A senior Sudanese government adviser has publicly warned that a US-brokered 90-day ceasefire proposal could entrench a Libya-style partition of the country.
The adviser criticized US envoy Massad Boulos over a plan seen as sidelining demands that the Rapid Support Forces withdraw from territory it holds, arguing it could preserve the paramilitary group's political standing rather than resolve the underlying war, per OkayAfrica.
With Sudan's civil war approaching its fourth year and famine conditions already documented in parts of Darfur and Kordofan, the government's pushback signals Washington's diplomatic effort may stall, leaving millions of displaced Sudanese without a near-term path to a negotiated end.
