RCG/RCC Statement of Solidarity with the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)

On this sacred occasion of African Liberation Day, the Rastafari Council of Ghana and the Rastafari Continental Council extend our unwavering solidarity and support to Captain Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso, to President Assimi Goïta of Mali and General Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger, and the People of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
Recent demonstrations of support across Ghana, Namibia, Somalia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Jamaica, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the wider Pan-African and Rastafari world signal an unmistakable truth: the African world is energized by what the AES is doing.
The AES stands today as a beacon of African liberation, a rallying point for the long-deferred dream of global African unity. The bold alignment of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger echoes the Union of Independent African States - the Ghana-Mali-Guinea union forged by Kwame Nkrumah, Sekou Touré, and Modibo Keita between 1958 and 1963. The AES also rekindles the revolutionary synergy in the fraternal bond between Jerry John Rawlings and Thomas Sankara in the 1980s.
In that same spirit, we reaffirm our commitment to the historical continuities of African unity and liberation. The challenges are real. Yet, we are confident that an airtight global black solidarity ensures robust political protection. The AES’s efforts fulfil the prophetic guidance of Qädamawi Haile Selassie I, who reminds us that: “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better… that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”
On this African Liberation Day, the Rastafari Council of Ghana proclaims: We stand with the Alliance of Sahel States. We salute the boldness of your efforts and reaffirm the urgency of Pan-African unity.
Signed:
Ahuma Bosco Ocansey (President)
Rastafari Council of Ghana
Rastafari Continental Council
