Earlier, we posted about Rasta David, the 71-year-old American citizen who was arrested in his own compound for allegedly possessing weed. Today, he was taken to court and remanded at Mile 2 Prison.

His dreadlocks, which he has grown since childhood, are now at risk of being cut off. A resident of Batokunku who knows Rasta David wrote: “Your story about the rasta man, David is heartbreaking. I have known David from childhood in Batokunku. David doesn’t used to eat meat but every tobaski, he would sl*ughter a ram and share the meat with his Muslim neighbours.

Recently, David came under heavy pressure from our Alkalo, Jerreh Jatta who wanted to use power and influence to forcefully sell part of his land because Jerreh said David did not pay the right amount to get that land.

David’s land was given to him by the former Alkalo, Ba Mamudu Jatta, father of Jerreh himself when Jerreh was going to secondary school. I can confidently say this weed case is a plot to get David’s land.

This platform have Nyahbinghi members from different African and African Livingspora countries. All these members can write letters or petitions to the Embassy of Gambia 🇬🇲 where the Ancient is currently held and show support and demand his immediate release.

The Nyahbinghi Ancient Council, Rastafari Continental Council, RNC and many other Rastafari Organisations who have members in this platform can flood the Gambian Embassy in their respective countries demanding the Ancient immediate release because ganja forms part of his faith as a Rastafari.
