The MP for Ketu North (Volta Region) Eric Edem Agbana recently released a statement regarding his decision to help end the persistence of colonial influences in the public school curriculum.
For decades since ‘independence,’ students have been subjected to ‘dehumanizing content’ that negatively impacts their socio-political orientation during and after they leave school.
Hon. Agbana said it was part of the present government’s policy to rectify such an error. He tied it in with the President's initiative to help clarify the meaning of racial slavery/colonialism and its implications, on the world stage.
The Honorable Member, who is also a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, said he would take up the matter with the GES.
This decision is in line with the desire and efforts of many across the continent of Africa and beyond demanding reforms and/or creating more relevant extra-curricula studies or independent educational systems.
It means he has massive support in helping to institutionalize, in public schools, more meaningful educational content for students.
